Three Key Reasons Why You Must Become A Landlord - Part III

This article is a continuation of our series on why you should aspire to become your own landlord and not remain a miserable tenant in the coming years. If you missed out on the first two parts of this series, click here to read the first part and click here for the second one.

3, The Peace of Mind that Comes With Being A Landlord

If you don't have a house of your own, you would always be troubled and disturbed when its time to pay your rents especially if you're earning a meager salary. A lot of folks save up their salaries for months before they can be able to pay rents.

Most people living in standard apartments in Lagos don't have monthly salaries that can sort their rent bills so they end up saving for months or sharing apartments at the risk of their comfort to be able to pay the rents. You have no option and God help you if you lose your main source of income, because your landlord would have no option but to throw you out on the streets.

And please, don't blame them because Landlords go through a lot of hassles to build their houses and the market is a seller's market. The demand in the Nigerian housing market is greater than available supply so prospective tenants and anyone who can't stay discipline to build his own but want to enjoy the comfort of a house should have the required sums to do so.

I have seen people fall sick of hypertension just because their house rents are due and they have no money to pay. I know what it feels like to be chased and hounded by a landlady or landlord when the rent is due - the humiliation and tantrums you face. It's not a great feeling at all and I'm sure you won't like that.

If you want to have peace of mind as you grow older, then you need to build your own roof - become a Landlord so that no one would humiliate you when you go through a bad patch or grow too old to earn a living.
